Why Fluoride Treatments Are Great For Your Dental Health

Feb 24, 2022

Fluoride treatments after your general checkups at the dentist aren’t just great for kids. There are plenty of benefits & advantages this treatment offers for patients of all ages, including:

Combats tooth sensitivity

Tooth sensitivity isn’t always a cause to worry about. It merely means that your teeth are having a reaction to a stimulus (which could be a beverage, new toothpaste, receding gums or post-whitening treatment). By applying fluoride for a period of 3 to 4 months, this desensitizes your teeth in order to minimize any dental discomfort you feel between your regular checkups.

Remineralise Early Signs of Decay

It’s not possible to heal a cavity in severe stages and grow your tooth back but it is possible to strengthen your enamel in the earliest stages of tooth decay to prevent a hole from forming in the first place! In its earliest stages, the site of a cavity is essentially demineralised surfaces. During your check-up we will check for demineralisation and use fluoride to prevent the area from worsening.

Reduce Risk of Cavities

Without the right preventive measures in place, you might be prone to getting cavities easily. If you tend to get cavities or dental issues every now and then, we recommend professional fluoride treatment every 6 months with your regular checkup. This is an incredibly effective way of reducing your risk of cavities.
