What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a teeth straightening technique that involves wearing a series of removable, clear aligners to straighten and correct teeth. Constructed from comfortable BPA-free plastics, these aligners gradually move your teeth into position by exerting gentle pressure. Being both clear and removable, Invisalign is a more discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional braces.

Suitable for both teens and adults, Invisalign can be used to correct issues such as teeth crowding, overbite, underbite, crossbite, gap teeth and crooked teeth.

The Invisalign treatment process

01. Consultation and assessment

Invisalign has many benefits and a high success rate, but it is not suitable for everyone. Your dentist will assess whether you are a good candidate for Invisalign before developing your treatment plan.

02. Smile scan

The next step is to take a ‘smile scan’. Your dentist will use our iTero Element scanner to capture a 3D image of your teeth, along with photographs and x-rays if required. We use ClinCheck software to determine how your teeth will move throughout your treatment and will provide you with a view of what your new smile will look like. Your scans are then sent to the Invisalign laboratory for your custom aligners to be created.

03. Fitting

When your aligners are ready, you’ll need to come back in to have them fitted by your dentist. During this appointment we’ll explain how to use and look after your aligners.

A few weeks following your first fitting, you’ll need to return for a follow up appointment where your dentist will check the fit and tooth movement.

04. Follow up appointments

Each series of aligners are worn everyday for two weeks before being replaced with another series, but unlike with braces, you won’t need to return for regular appointments with Invisalign. You won’t need to see your dentist every time it’s ready to switch to a new series, you’ll just need to return periodically so we can check your progress.

05. Show off your new smile

After a period of time (which will vary based on your individual treatment plan) your teeth will have straightened out. The final results will always depend on the severity of misalignment to begin with, but if you follow your treatment plan we guarantee you’ll be happy with the results.

To help show off your new smile, we’ll give you a bonus Zoom whitening treatment at the end of your Invisalign treatment process.
